BCHD DEMANDS FROM THE NATIONAL BROADCASTING COMPANY TO PROVIDE BROADCAST TIME FOR SPEAKING UP
Representatives of the organizational committee of creating the party “Belarusian Christian Democracy” addressed to the directive board of the National State Broadcasting Company of the Republic of Belarus and the directive board of the TV-Channel “Belarus-TV” with regard to the program “Panorama Weekly” shown at the channel “Belarus-TV” on September 27, 2009.
The appeal says:
“The program “Panorama Weekly” contained materials of unproved and slander character, lies and distorted information about the members of the organizational committee of creating the party “Belarusian Christian Democracy”, insults of honour and dignity of the founders of the party. All these materials lead the citizens of the Republic of Belarus, who watched the above-mentioned program, into misconception.
The program also contained fabrication of what the people said in the interviews taken by the journalists of the Belarusian Television. The slander conclusions of the host of the program were mostly based on the doubtful internet articles of little known authors or anonymous statements of internet users”.
According to the Articles 42, 43, 44 of the Law “On Media”, the representatives of the organizational committee demand from the directive board of the National State Broadcasting Company of the Republic of Belarus and the directive board of the TV-Channel “Belarus-TV” to refute all the facts mentioned in the report, which are of slander character, contain lies and distorted information about the members of the organizational committee of creating the party “Belarusian Christian Democracy”, insults of honour and dignity of the founders of the party, and lead the citizens into misconception, and demand that the refutation should be on air at the same time on the same TV channel.
“We demand that the directive board of the company should provide the Co-Chairmen of the organizational committee of creating the party “Belarusian Christian Democracy” Paval Sevyarynec and Vital Rymasheuski, whose names were declared in the program mentioned above, the time for speech in which they would have a possibility to inform the citizens of the Republic of Belarus about the activity of the organizational committee, aims and tasks of the created party,” – states the appeal.
The appeal was signed by the Co-Chairmen of the Belarusian Christian Democracy Paval Sevyarynec and Vital Rymasheuski, whose names were declared in the above-mentioned TV-program.
