На жаль, у гэты дзень Павел знаходзіцца ў зняволенні. У чэрвені 2020 года ён быў арыштаваны за сваю актыўную грамадзянскую пазіцыю і непахіснае імкненне да свабоды і дэмакратыі ў Беларусі. У маі 2021 года Паўла асудзілі на 7 гадоў пазбаўлення волі па абвінавачанні ў «арганізацыі масавых беспарадкаў».

Нягледзячы на ўсе выпрабаванні, Павел застаецца сімвалам мужнасці, веры і адданасці хрысціянскім і дэмакратычным каштоўнасцям.

У гэты асаблівы дзень мы хочам выказаць Паўлу і яго сем‘і нашу падтрымку і салідарнасць. Мы молімся за яго здароўе і хутчэйшае вызваленне. Няхай Бог умацуе яго дух і дасць сілы прайсці праз усе выпрабаванні.

Дарагі Павел, з днём народзінаў! Мы чакаем твайго вяртання і працягваем справу, якая нас аб’яднала.

The Organising Committee of the Belarusian Christian Democracy informs that in recent months there have been frequent cases when a person who was expelled from the Belarusian Christian Democracy and has nothing to do with the BCD tries to present himself on behalf of the Belarusian Christian Democrats. We would also like to inform you that the Organising Committee of the Belarusian Christian Democracy has decided that no one has the right to represent on behalf of the BCD party in public political processes, as this puts the members of the Organising Committee of the Belarusian Christian Democracy in Belarus at risk of criminal prosecution as acting on behalf of an unregistered organisation. We remind that under the repressive laws adopted by the Belarusian authorities in 2022 – Article VC 193-1 “Illegal organisation of activities of a public association, religious organisation or foundation or participation in their activities” is punishable by imprisonment).

The Organising Committee of the Belarusian Christian Democracy Party declares that on the basis of previous decisions and current political conditions the Belarusian Christian Democracy does not take part in the elections to the Coordination Council.

At the same time, according to the decision of the Organising Committee, the Christian Democrats can take part in the elections to the CC personally or by forming their own electoral lists without representing themselves as the Belarusian Christian Democracy party.

Recall: most members of the BCD organising committee remain in Belarus. Many Christian Democrats, including Pavel Seviarynets, are political prisoners. The provocations of Heorhi Dmitruk put them under additional threat.
We call on the democratic community and editors of independent media to prioritise the safety of these people and their families when publishing information.

The Christian Democrats have decided to continue their activities in Belarus in preparation for the registration of the party and holding events in accordance with the Law of the Republic of Belarus “On Political Parties”, namely:
– preparation for the founding congress of the party;
– preparation of the party’s statute;
– preparation of the party programme;
– preparation of the list of party founders and other necessary documents for party registration in accordance with the procedure established by law.

In a statement, the organising committee also noted the inadmissibility of activities on behalf of the BCD of any structures and individuals apart from the above mentioned activities.

As Vital Rymasheuski noted: “Repression in Belarus is only intensifying, civil society is being destroyed, new repressive laws are being passed. Belarus needs development, not a long-term crisis that is intensifying. And this requires a strong civil society and political parties. Christian democracy including social market economy is a successful model of the political and economic system. Today there are no conditions for winning the democratic elections, but we can continue work on the party’s programme, which will be the basis for reforms in the future of Belarus.”

Volha Kavalkova said “Instead of dialogue and other constructive actions aimed at overcoming the crisis, every day we receive new prohibition laws that make our country dangerous for people and increasingly divide society. The situation is difficult, but even in these conditions it is necessary to continue working and making steps to ensure the positive changes in Belarus; for this we will use possible ways to unite and join efforts aimed at the development of society and the state. We will continue to seek the release of all political prisoners, including our colleagues Pavel Seviarynets and Tatiana Kaneuskaya. Our strength is in unity and solidarity, faith and struggle for each other and Belarus ”.

The Belarusian Young Christian Democrats inform you about the persecutions of the peaceful activists in Belarus.

The nowadays presidential campaign in Belarus has become the most severe in the modern history of the country. Alexander Lukashenko who has been ruling the country for 26 years is running for the president for the 6th time. Since he is extremely unpopular now and got the nickname “Sasha the 3%” due to his electoral ranking, Lukashenko started to put the severe pressure on the oppositional activists.

There are about 25 persons who are charged under the Criminal Code and the hundreds are detained under the Administrative Code.

Among the last ones, there are the Young Christian Democrats. Valiancin Fralou, who ran for Parliament in 2019 and is a member of the team of presidential nominee Volha Kavalkova in 2020, was arrested on June 7th for 15 days.

Another member of the YCD Zmicier Kazakevich, who also ran for Parliament and was beaten by the police in 2019, is fined for an amount that is 3 times higher than the average salary in Belarus.

On June 14th Eva Sapryhina disappeared. She ran for Parliament in 2019 and is a member of the team of presidential nominee Volha Kavalkova in 2020 as well. For more than a week police tried to detain her. Yesterday she wrote that “they are near my house”. After that nothing is known about her. Her house is empty.

We ask you to support the Belarusian civil society activists.

We appeal to you to make the official statements concerning the situation in Belarus in your social media accounts and to mention the Belarusian MFA (https://www.facebook.com/belarusmfa/, https://twitter.com/BelarusMFA, and https://www.instagram.com/belarusmfa/) in order to make the government stop the repressions.

On 12 May 2020 the “independent” Belarusian court restricted her in the right to travel abroad and in the right to drive her car.
The judge decided that to fulfill Volha’s obligations to pay fines in the amount of 2500 Belarusian rubles, as punishment for taking part in the protests against integration with Russia in Minsk in December 2019, previously taken measures in the form of the car arrest, arrest of the apartment, deductions from salaries, blocking bank cards, restrictions on mobile communications and voluntary payment of 1350 Belarusian rubles, were not enough.
BCD co-chair stated that “the lack of justice is precisely one of the reasons why I am in the opposition. I want to live in a state of law, where competent, responsible and honest people hold position of judges, where everyone is equal before the law and the law has supremacy.”
